Without unnecessarily lengthening your reading time for this recipe, let us jump right into this recipe that is sure to become a staple comfort food!

Why Does This Recipe Work?

  • The cake is not overly sweet, which makes snacking on it easier without the taste getting too empowering.
  • The Bundt Cake only takes about 5 minutes of active preparation time.
  • You do not need to make a fuss about decorating the cake because it looks pretty appetizing as it is!
  • The cake stays moist for days which makes it ideal to have as a snack at home for days.

What Is In This Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake with Cake Mix?

Cake mix. Cake Mix constitutes the base of this recipe. A Cake Mix is basically a mixture of all the flours required for a cake. This saves you the hassle of running to the supermarket in search of two to three different flours and later ensuring that you are mixing them all in the right proportions.

Eggs. They are, of course, an essential ingredient in baking, as always. Eggs will add structure, stability, and moisture to this recipe.

Greek Yogurt. It will react with the cake mix and help the Bundt Cake rise. Full-fat Greek Yogurt works best for this recipe.

Vegetable Oil. Lightly flavoured or unflavoured Vegetable Oil will avoid leaving a lasting oily flavour in the cake.

Granulated Sugar. Granulated Sugar will highly affect the sweetness of this recipe. Add a little amount of Sugar if you are not a fan of sweets, or go crazy with it to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Vanilla Extract. It will contribute significantly to the flavour of this cake. Thus, it is best if you use the best quality Vanilla Extract that you can find.

Chocolate Chips. Use small-sized Chocolate Chips if you can. They will disperse better in the cake batter as compared to regularly sized Chocolate Chips.

How To Make Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake with Cake Mix?

Preheat the oven to 170°C, and grease a Bundt pan with butter.

In a bowl, whisk eggs and vanilla extract.

Whisk in sugar, Greek yogurt and oil until combined.

Now, add the cake mix and whisk, then fold chocolate chips into the batter.

Fold chocolate chips into the batter.

Pour the batter into the Bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.

Allow it to cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar (optional).

Top Tips!

  • It is pretty important to prep your Bundt pan for this recipe. The best thing you can do is use a good quality non-stick Bundt pan and grease it generously with butter or spray it with a coating of non-stick spray. Do so in large sweeping motions, which will prevent the spray from pooling at the bottom. This ensures that the cake comes off easily after it has been baked.
  • Make sure that all your ingredients are at room temperature. Cold ingredients just do not mix well, and you may end up with a lumpy batter.
  • Do not over-mix your batter. This will make your cake very dense and gummy.
  • Make sure that you release the air bubbles from the batter before you bake it. Firmly tapping the Bundt pan on the counter a few times should do the trick.
  • Be sure to mix in each egg completely and then add the next.
  • Whisk the batter until it is light and fluffy.

Some Variations

  • You can dust the cake with cinnamon for a spicy twist.
  • Using sour cream instead of Greek Yogurt will give you a heavier and denser cake if that is something you prefer.
  • Heat heavy cream over medium low heat until it begins to simmer, and then add chocolate chips and hot milk over it. After letting it sit for five minutes, stir the mixture until combined before adding some canola oil. This will give you a glaze that you can pour over your cake instead of the melted chocolate.
  • You can substitute milk chocolate with white chocolate.
  • You can use dark chocolate products anywhere you want to give it a delightfully bitter nuance.

Serving Suggestions

  • Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake makes for a great snack for the afternoon or the evening (or midnight!).
  • The tendency of the cake to stay moist for a long time makes it an ideal snack to pack for a long road trip or a picnic.
  • Serve it with a steaming cup of coffee or tea in the morning for a sumptuous breakfast.
  • A glass of milk, too, goes really well with the dish.
  • Top your cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an amazing dessert.

Storage

To Store: If you want the cake to stay nice and moist for a few days, just store it in a cake dome or tightly covered in aluminum foil. Make sure that the place of storage is cool and dry. This should ensure that you have Bundt Cake at hand for the next three to five days.

To Freeze: Freezing the cake is the easiest way to prolong its life to three months. Let the cake cool completely, and then double-wrap it completely with aluminium foil or plastic freezer wrap.

Reheating: You do not need to reheat the cake. Just thaw it overnight if you have frozen the cake, and you are good to go.

Recipe FAQs

My Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake browns too much on top. What do I do about this?

If your cake is browning too much, place a sheet of foil on top of the cake loosely. This will avoid the cake being heated directly and, as a result, will stop the browning.

How do I know if my Cake is ready?

Just like any other baked product, the trick is to insert a toothpick roughly at the centre of the cake. If it comes out clean (or with very few crumbs), you can safely announce to the kids (and adults!) that the wait is over.
