This year monsoon arrived pretty late. However, when it comes at the end it brings alongwith the craving for fried snacks. Although this is a mere excuse and I don’t need any specific season for having delicious, crispy, fried starters. Fish Finger was in my to do list for long. So without any further delay I ordered some Basa fish fillets (fish finger cut) from Licious. Though Bhetki fish is the best option for this recipe, this time I go with a cheaper one. Rest of the ingredients are always there in the kitchen. So today evening turned out like a celebration with crispy fish fingers, mayonnaise and ketchup. Yum
Ingredients for 14-15 pieces :
- Fish Fillet (Basa/Bhetki) – 250 gms.
- Lemon juice – 1 tbspoon
- Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
- Fresh coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 1 tbspoon heaped (optional)
- Black pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Refined flower – 3 tbspoon
- Egg – 2
- Breadcrumbs to coat
- Oil for deep frying
Procedure :
- At first wash the fish fillets and marinate with salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder, lemon juice, garlic paste and coriander leaves. Rest the fish for at least 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile beat eggs in a bowl. Add flour, salt and remaining pepper powder to it. Mix them very well to get a lump free batter. The batter should be little thick but runny.
- Then spread the breadcrumbs over a plate.
- Now dip the fish fillets into the batter and then coat well with the breadcrumbs.
- After coating all the fish fillets keep them into the refrigerator for half an hour.
- Now heat sufficient amount of oil for deep frying. Keep the flame on low-medium.
- As the oil becomes moderately hot start frying the coated fish fillets few at a time.
- As the fillets turn golden brown from all sides remove them from oil and transfer to paper towel.
- Hot and crispy Fish Fingers are ready to serve. Enjoy with mayonnaise or tomato ketchup.

Note :
- I ordered the fish fillets which were already cut into finger sized shapes. But you can buy normal fish fillets from the market and then cut them into finger size.
- The oil should not be very hot. Otherwise the fish may remain uncooked from inside while outer part turns brown.
