Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew With Cold Foam Starbucks Recipe

This vanilla sweet cream cold brew with cold foam is a Starbucks copycat recipe with full instructions.

I also talk about the option of making this tasty coffee dairy free and your vanilla sweet cream cold foam using natural ingredients should you so wish to.

Ingredients For Making Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew With Cold Foam

Very few ingredients are needed for making this tasty coffee beverage. At Latte Love Brew, we encourage you to use the best ingredients and the best equipment that you can afford.

Ingredients Needed

  • 8 Oz (240 grams) Whole Bean Starbucks Breakfast Blend Coffee Beans.
  • 2 Oz (60 ml) Heavy Cream.
  • 2 Oz (60 ml) Whole Fat Milk.
  • Two Pumps Of Starbucks Vanilla Syrup.

Of course, you can use any coffee beans that you want to make a cold brew coffee. If you want to use beans, that is better than Starbucks Breakfast Blend. My suggestions are Stone Street’s Cold Brew and Out Of The Grey Coffee’s Honduras Comsa.

The Starbucks vanilla syrup can be switched for their sugar-free vanilla syrup.

You can also use other tastier and exotic versions like Madagascar vanilla or French vanilla syrup by Davinci Gourmet.

I’ll give you instructions for making the sweet cream cold foam using an organic vanilla pod later.

If you want a dairy free version, swap the heavy cream for coconut cream and the whole milk for coconut milk.

Why You Need To Use Milk And Cream

There is a reason why you must use both heavy cream and whole milk. If you use just heavy cream you may end up with a clumpy vanilla sweet cream cold foam. The addition of milk is to prevent that from happening.

This is also the same reason why half-and-half cream, essentially what we are making, is made with equal amounts of heavy cream and whole milk.

Instructions For Making A Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew With Cold Foam

The best way of making this beverage is to start by making your Starbucks cold brew coffee.

Let’s get you making the perfect cold brew coffee!

Weigh 8 Oz (240 grams) of Starbucks Breakfast Blend whole coffee beans.

(remember, you can use the two premium quality alternatives I suggested earlier).

Grind your beans to a coarse and even grind size using a ceramic flat burr grinder. Grind in 5 second bursts with a 3-second rest between. This technique is to prevent clumping and helps to reduce heat transfer.

Add your coarse coffee grinds to a glass airtight container.

Weigh or measure 64 Ounces (1.92 liters) of fresh bottled or filtered water.

Add your water to your container with your coffee grounds.

Shake your bottle and put it in your fridge to extract for 24 to 32+ hours.

The sharp coffee lovers will be noting we are using a coffee to water ratio of 1:8, and you are making a lot of cold brew.

Cold brew coffee takes a long time to brew and stays well in your fridge for 5 to 7 days. That is why it is a good idea to make a lot at a time.

We are extracting in the fridge to get a better extraction of the low temperature compounds.

Starbucks extract their cold brew at room temperature. You’ll get a better coffee at lower temperatures.

Taste test your coffee after 18-20 hours. If your cold brew is perfect and hits the spot for you, great!

If it is not, put your coffee back into the fridge and leave it to extract for three to four hours more.

When it is perfect for you, filter out the coffee grounds using a metal filter. A proper metal coffee filter is perfect, but the filter basket of your automatic drip coffee maker will get the job done just as well as will using a metal sieve.

Do not forget to filter your coffee grounds as they will continue to extract until you remove them, eventually over brewing your coffee.

Give your coffee grounds a second life by using them to fertilize your plants and revitalize your soil or use on yoru compost pile!

Cold Brew Is Easy To Make On Your Own

Making Your Sweet Cream Cold Foam

Making sweet cream cold foam is very easy. Add the 2 Oz of heavy whipping cream and 2 ounces of whole milk to a mason jar. Mix them well together and add your two pumps of Starbucks vanilla syrup.

I suggest, for health reasons, using sugar-free vanilla syrup.

Mix well again to ensure your vanilla syrup is well mixed in your sweet cream.

To make your sweet cream a cold foam, insert your handheld electric milk frother to the bottom and froth while moving your milk frother through your vanilla sweet cream evenly and slowly from top to bottom again. Do this several times until you have thick, stiff peaks.

Your vanilla sweet cream cold foam is now ready for adding to your cold brew coffee. Use a spoon to scoop it in top of your cold brew coffee and enjoy.

You can make your recipe 100% dairy free by using coconut cream and coconut milk and using the same method. You’ll end up with a tasty coconut-vanilla sweet cream cold foam topping.

Making A Natural Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam

This is how I love to make vanilla sweet cream cold foam and all my tasty toppings!

By using natural ingredients!

Since it stays well for 2 to 3 days, you can make a small batch at a time.

Add equal amounts of heavy whipping cream (heavy cream) and whole fat milk to a saucepan. Calculate 2 Oz of each ingredient for each cup that you want to make.

Slice an organic vanilla pod. You can get exotic and use a Madagascar or French vanilla pod.

Add it to your dairy solution and mix well and keep stirring while you heat at a low temperature.

Monitor your temperature and ensure that it does not go above 50C (130F).

The milk sugars and milk start to burn above this temperature. Let your vanilla and half-and-half cream simmer for half an hour to extract the vanilla flavor.

Transfer your solution to a mason jar or similar container with the slices of your vanilla pod and let it cool naturally and leave it for 6 to 12 hours to extract the flavor from the vanilla.

When ready, filter out the vanilla pods and whip your naturally flavored sweet cream to turn it into a sweet cream cold foam using your handheld electric milk frother.

Move your frother through your sweet cream evenly and slowly to ensure that you get both a good and even distribution of flavors and to get an even whipping of your sweet cream.

Whip for about a minute or two until you get good quality stiff peaks.

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam Calories

The vanilla sweet cream cold foam calorie count alone is easy to work out. I started with the cold brew calorie count which is 5 calories for all drink sizes and the number of calories in a vanilla sweet cream cold foam.

The difference between the two is how many calories the topping has. Which is as follows:

  • Tall 12 Oz (360 ml): 85 calories.
  • Grande 16 Oz (480 ml): 115 calories.
  • Venti 24 Oz (720 ml): 195 calories.
  • Trenta 30 Oz (900 ml): 215 calories

For the sugar-free version I had to deduct 20 calories per pump of vanilla syrup used, which means the sugar-free vanilla sweet cream cold foam has the following calories:

  • Tall 12 Oz (360 ml): 65 calories.
  • Grande 16 Oz (480 ml): 65 calories.
  • Venti 24 Oz (720 ml): 135 calories.
  • Trenta 30 Oz (900 ml): 135 calories

Notably, the sugar-free version is not completely sugar-free as it contains 4 grams of sugar for the two smaller drink sizes and 8 grams for the two larger drink sizes. This is due to the sugar that is in the dairy products used.
