The Benefits Of Coffee

I have already discussed the benefit of honey, which you will get when you add it to your cup of coffee. Coffee, despite being 98% water, does have nutritional benefits which are thanks in kind to the vitamin, mineral and antioxidant content.

Coffee is much more than a quick nutritional boost. Let’s talk about this aspect of milk and honey in coffee.

Coffee May Assist In Weight Loss

Coffee is well known and very well studied in regard to assisting weight loss. The main benefit comes from both the enhanced metabolic rate and improved metabolism of fat.

There is a third way in which coffee helps with weight loss – it is an appetite suppressant. If and when you are on a diet and enjoying lower quantities of healthy low calorie food, coffee may help you not cheat and have snacks in between meals.

When I fast, I coffee fast instead of water fasting since coffee gets me through the first few days due to the suppressant effect on my appetite.

Notably, the research indicates that men benefit more than women from the fat loss properties of coffee. People that drink two or more cups of coffee per day are more likely by 17% to reach the daily physical activity requirements than those that drink only one cup of coffee per day.

Coffee May Reduce The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes

Coffee in its own right, with or without sugar and with or without honey has the potential for reducing the probability of type 2 diabetes.

As a side note, honey also has the potential of aiding with and reducing the potential of type 2 diabetes which means if you need to sweeten your coffee, honey is not only better than sugar, it is the more sensible choice.

Coffee functions in the fight against and prevention of this disease due to its ability to maintain and preserve beta cells in your pancreas which are responsible for the production of insulin and managing blood sugar levels.

Also, the antioxidants may have a beneficial effect on your sensitivity to insulin.

There are studies that have mixed results and both indicate that coffee may have beneficial effects for your brain health and the fight against Alzheimer’s and fight against Parkinson’s disease.

There are also studies that indicate there is no beneficial effect of coffee in the fight against these two diseases. Personally, I lean towards there being some benefit effect when you add honey due to the zinc content and there bing studies that point to honey on its own being good in the fight against these two illnesses that affect the brain.

At least if the coffee does not help you in this aspect, honey is quite possibly will

Coffee Benefits Your Heart Health

Here is a pretty cool heart health fact: 3 to 5 cups of coffee per day reduces your risk of heart disease by 15% and 3 to 4 cups of coffee reduces your risk of a stroke by 21%.

With this mind, you still need to be aware of the fact that caffeine may increase your blood pressure. If you have blood pressure issues, you should monitor your caffeine intake. This does not mean that you forego the benefits of 3 to 5 cups of coffee per day as you can enjoy Swiss water-processed decaffeinated coffee.

Frequently Asked Questions About Milk And Honey In Coffee

Is Honey And Milk Good In Coffee?

Honey is an excellent addition to your coffee, not just for the rather lovely taste. It’s sweeter than white sugar, natural and has a lower glycemic index. Honey and milk adds to the nutritional profile by adding vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, antibacterial agents and phenolic compounds you’ll make your coffee much healthier.

What Are The Benefits Of Coffee Mixed With Honey?

Coffee with honey has the following nutrients:

  • Vitamin B6 (Folate).
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid).
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin).
  • Vitamin C.
  • Potassium.
  • Manganese.
  • Magnesium.

Adding coconut oil and cinnamon and using raw honey will help to boost your metabolism and give you a great start to the story.

Is Cold Coffee With Honey Good?

Yes, cold brew coffee and iced coffee are delicious, tasty and bold and well-balanced as they are. Adding honey to your cold coffee drinks only adds to the flavor, which in its own right is a great reason for adding it.

There are also some great health benefits too, such as enhancing your metabolic rate and aiding your immune health due to the nutritional profile.

Does Honey In Coffee Help A Cough?

A mix of honey and coffee is said to be more effective at relieving and helping a persistent cough than a placebo and steroids.

The one caveat from the study is it was instant coffee, not brewed coffee or any other kind of coffee that formed part of the study.

Does Honey In Coffee Help Sore Throat?

Drinking coffee and honey mixture every 8 hours for 7 days helped both coughing and a sore throat better than a placebo and medication. Both coffee and honey could help with a sore throat, which can give your sore throat a one-two sucker punch.

Can I Drink Coffee While Dieting?

Yes, but with one caveat, it depends on the type of coffee that you drink. If you drink those liquid cakes from Starbucks that do a pretty poor impression of coffee, you will be doing more harm for your diet as they are loaded with calories and sugar.

Black coffee, caffe Americano, or caffe misto with regular milk is good. I drink coffee when dieting but not the coffee shop drinks. I make it at home, where I have more control over the calories!

Why We Should Not Add Honey In Hot Milk?

While honey is great in coffee and milk, it should not be added to hot milk or any hot drinks. You should only add it to drinks that are cooler than 140F (60C). Above this temperature you will start to experience a reduced benefit from the honey as the nutrients get denatured and there may even become toxic.

Why Does Warm Milk And Honey Make You Sleepy?

A glass of warm milk and honey helps you to get a quality night’s sleep due to the natural sugar turning off a neurotransmitter, Orexin, which helps your body to rest.

Final Thoughts – Milk And Honey In Coffee

There is no doubt about it, milk and honey in coffee is very healthy and, as far as I am concerned, will always be how I start my day loading my body with nutrients as I get ready to face what the world throws at me.

Adding other ingredients like coconut oil and cinnamon only ads to the health properties of your morning brew.
