Maple Pancakes Recipe

If you like the sweet and caramel-like flavor of Maple Syrup, these maple pancakes are going to be a new family favorite! The light and fluffy maple Pancakes are topped with crushed walnuts and maple syrup drizzle. There’s no better way to start your day than with a full plate of warm and delicious pancakes.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

  • Rich and full of maple flavor: The maple syrup in this recipe brings a rich, warm and nutty flavor to the breakfast table. You can enjoy them on their own or topped with fresh fruits, butter, crushed walnuts, or pecan nuts.
  • Easy to make: These pancakes are so easy to make and they are done in less than 30 minutes! This simple recipe gives you a good reason to head into the kitchen and make your favorite pancakes.
  • Great leftover: Made a big enough batch of pancakes and don’t know what to do with the leftovers. These maple pancakes keep well for 2 or 3 days. Just wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or place them in an air-tight container in the fridge.

What do You need to Make Maple Pancakes?

  • Flour: You can use all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, or gluten-free flour. I usually use all-purpose flour to make pancakes.
  • Baking powder: Baking powder helps leaven the pancake batter, creating a soft and fluffy texture.
  • Salt: You will find a small amount of salt in most pancake recipes.
  • Egg: You will need one or more eggs, depending on the number of pancakes you make.
  • Vanilla extract: Vanilla adds sweetness and flavor.
  • Milk: Milk adds moisture, and keeps the pancakes fluffy.
  • Maple syrup: Maple syrup adds an earthy and rich sweetness to the pancakes.
  • Brown sugar: I like to make maple pancakes with brown sugar. The rich taste of brown sugar pairs well with maple syrup.
  • Vegetable oil or melted butter: The butter should be melted and in-room temperature. You can use vegetable oil instead of butter if you like.

Instructions

  • First, gather your ingredients. Melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature. Whisk all dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt).
  • In another bowl crack the egg. Whisk egg with a fork until consistency is even. Then add the milk and room temperature melted butter, and mix well. Add vanilla extract to the wet ingredients.
  • Stir in dry ingredients. Mix until combined. Do not overmix. Heat up a non-stick saucepan at medium heat, then add butter. You can use a 1/4 measuring cup or ladle to pour batter into the pan.
  • Cook each pancake until you see bubbles on the surface and the edges look golden brown and dry. Then stack them on a plate.
  • Top with crushed walnuts and maple syrup drizzle and serve.
