Shakkar Pare Recipe – Step by Step with photos

The Shakkar Pare recipe is a dish that a person never gets bored eating. It is a crisp and crunchy sugar-coated fried biscuit. In India, it is usually prepared at home during festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, and Ganesh Chaturthi.

It is an easy-to-cook dessert. People often make Shakkar Pare during summer for free time. Children also like to eat Shakkar Pare. it is very popular in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, India. Shakkar Pare is prepared by maida and then we fry it first, then dip it in sugar syrup.

Shakkar Pare is also made from jaggery. As much sugar as we used to make Shakkar Pare. We can use jaggery instead. The Pare of our jaggery will be ready. And this too will be liked by everyone as much as Shakkar Pare.

Some tips for crispy Shakkar pare recipe

  • In this recipe I used maida.
  • prepare a tough dough similar to Poori dough.
  • And don’t use soda in flour.
  • The Shakkar Pare becomes oily by the use of soda. And we cannot store them for a long time.
  • Frying is the most important part of this recipe. heat a good volume of oil over medium temperature. 
  • While frying when they turn golden from all the sides immediately drain them from oil.
  • Before dipping Shakkar Pare in sugar syrup. Sugar syrup is not too hot but it is important to be warm

Ingredients

For Shakkar pare

  • 250 g maida
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water

for the sugar syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder

  • 250 g oil for frying

Instructions

Making Shakkar Pare

  • Take 2 cups of maida in a mixing bowl or plat. Add 2 tbsp oil. 
  •  With your fingertips, mix the oil with the flour very well.
  • We will need less water to knead the dough because we have used Maida flour.
  • Knead to a semi-soft dough. Neither too soft nor too hard.
  • Take one part and roll into a thick paratha of 7 to 8 inches.
  • With the help of a knife cut the Shakkar Pare in the squares and diamond shape on the rolled paratha.
  • Frying the Shakkar Para in the medium hot oil.
  • Fry till all of them turn golden.
  • Now our Shakkar pare is ready. we can remove from pan.

Making sugar syrup for Shakkar Pare

  • First of all, burn the gas and put a pan on it.
  • Now add sugar in it.
  • Add some water and mix well.
  • Now we have to let the syrup boil.
  • Now add Cardamom powder in it.
  • Allow the sugar syrup to boil until you get a 2 to 3 thread consistency in the syrup.
  • Once the syrup of 2 to 3 threads comes, our sugar syrup is ready now turn off the gas.

Adding Shakkar Pare in Sugar Syrup

  • Our sugar syrup is ready, now we are going to add Shakkar Para in it.
  • Add the Shakkar Para to the sugar syrup and mix well so that the sugar syrup adds a layer in the Shakkar Para.
  • Now transfer all the Shakkar pare in a plate
  • After it cools, sugar syrup forms well on the Shakkar Para, so wait till it cools.
  • Now our Shakkar Pare is ready to serve with tea or have them as a snack any time of day.
