Gulab Jamun

Ingredients:

1 cup milk powder
3 tbsp plain flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp corn flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 cup sugar
3 cup water
1/4-1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/2 tsp lemon juice
oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Mix plain flour and baking powder in a small bowl.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add milk powder, plain flour mix, corn flour and baking soda and mix well.
  3. Add 4 tbsp water little by little and mix well. Then knead it with your fingers. The dough will be sticky.
  4. Grease little oil in your hand and knead it again till soft.
  5. In a thick bottomed pan, add sugar and 3 cups of water.
  6. Add cardamom powder and lemon juice and boil well. Transfer this to a large bowl.
  7. Heat oil in a pan at medium flame. Grease hand with little oil and make small smooth balls out of dough without any cracks.
  8. Add the balls gently and fry them on low flame till golden brown.
  9. Add this to the prepared sugar syrup and keep it covered for 1/2 an hour. Serve them in bowls..
