Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Campedel 2007, Gamba

Amarone della Valpolicella is a widely known and appreciated Italian wine made in the valpolicella area, Veneto, and 2007 was a great vintage for the Amarone della Valpolicella wine and this was amongst the top Amarone of the year according to Decanter and many other wine magazines and critics and certainly us, I was one of the only 4 Amarone della Valpolicella wines to be awarded 5 stars beating all big names.

This is an Amarone della Valpolicella classic and modern at the same time. Classic because it does not belong to the category of the Amarones "made to be drunk as soon as they are bottled" but at the same time, it has a modern cut, with a fantastic acidity that gives elegance and at the same time longevity to the wine due the grapes used coming from a single vineyard located at about 600 mas, right in the middle of the Valpolicella “classico” area.

The Amarone della Valpolicella is a great red wine with depth and structure and 2007 was an amazing vintage, this wine shows an amazingly complex nose with dried fruit and spices, smooth on the palate, elegant, perfectly balanced fruit and pairs beautifully with game, braised meat and aged cheeses, as well as being a meditation wine, a wine to be enjoyed on its own, a wine to be sipped. This Amarone needs to be decented a few hours before being drunk.
