Ingredients:
To Cook Dal in Pressure Cooker
1 cup yellow dal (toor dal |arhar dal), washed
3 tbsp red lentil (masoor dal), washed
½ turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp cooking oil
2 cup of water
For Making Dal
1 bay leaf (tej patta)
½ tsp cumin seeds (white jeera)
2 tbsp pure ghee or clarified butter
½ tsp garlic paste
½ tsp ginger paste
1 pinch hing (asafetida)
½ tsp red chili powder
1 red medium red chili flake
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 large onion, chopped
½ tsp dried coriander powder
Salt to taste
2 medium tomato, chopped
2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
¼ tsp allspice powder (garam masala)
1 tsp dried kasuri methi, mashed
To make Tadka Dal
1 tsp pure ghee or unsalted butter
1 medium red chili flakes
¼ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
1 pinch hing (asafetida)
1 tsp green coriander, chopped

Preparation Method:
Wash both the dal and add in a pressure cooker. Keep the flame low. If you like you can replace or add moong dal.
Now, add turmeric powder, salt, butter, or oil and water in the pressure cooker.
Cook for 10-15 minutes on medium flame until dal is cooked.
When the cooker stops oozing the pressure, open the cover and crush or mix the dal well.
Include one cup or required water to adjust the consistency as you required. Remove from the heat and keep aside.
Take a large cooking frying pan add butter or ghee and add 1 bay leaf, ½ tsp whole cumin, a pinch of Hing and chili flakes.
Also, include garlic paste, ginger paste, and sauté a little.
Add diced onion and keep mixing until it becomes a dark pinkish color. Keep the flame on low.
Now, add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt to taste.
Include diced tomato and keep mixing until it goes soft and syrupy.
Later, add cooked dal and combine well. Adjust the consistency of dal as you require.
Cook for 5 minutes or until it well-combined and spur the flavor.
Finally, include chopped green coriander, pressed kasuri methi, and all spices powder. Combine well.
