Barrel Theory Rain Drops DDH With Galaxy - Craft Beer Time

Barrel Theory Brewing has made a wonderful name for themselves for their hazy IPAs and other brews. Since the start, Rain Drops has been their flagship IPA and it makes a great base for experimentation. Rotating offerings with various dry-hopping additions have been a great showcase for numerous hop varieties. Ddh Rain Drops with Galaxy is the latest in the series and it’s a delicious pairing.

DDH Rain Drops with Galaxy

Galaxy hops are an Australian variety known for their big passion fruit character and citrus notes. Barrel Theory has taken Rain Drops hazy IPA, which features Citra and Mosaic hops, and hit it with a double dry-hopping of Galaxy. Here’s what it created.

A hazy matte golden yellow beverage fills the glass and features a white head of tight bubbles. The foam slowly settles and leaves the walls of the snifter coated in layers of sticky lacing as you sip it down.

Wonderful aroma of sweet citrus, peach, and pineapple slide through the nostrils, with a bit of bitterness apparent and a good amount of dank notes as it warms a little.

Take a sip and you find tons of citrus. Juicy pineapple, papaya, and a touch of orange. No acidity to it or bitterness present. Big and juicy, it starts sweet and dries a bit as it slides into the aftertaste, where you’ll find passionfruit and just a hint of dankness.

Galactic Hop Hit

Sometimes you shouldn’t mess with success. Often additions to awesome flagship brews result in something less than the original. But the double dry-hopped Rain Drops series has been pretty much all winners on my palate. DDH Rain Drops with Galaxy is certainly another one of them.
