What’s a Shrub?
A shrub is a mixture of fruit, vinegar and sugar. In the 17th and 18th century, liquors such as rum and brandy were used instead of vinegar to produce a cordial which was often used as medicine. Today, shrub is making a comeback and is used for making drinks, soda and even ice cream using a variety of fruits, spices and some vegetables such as cucumbers and spicy peppers.
