How to Make a French 75: The Perfect Cocktail for Any Occasion

Looking for a sophisticated cocktail recipe to impress your guests? Look no further than the French 75.

Gather Your Ingredients and Tools.
Before making your French 75, ensure you have all the necessary ingredients and tools. You will need gin, Lemon Juice, simple syrup, champagne or sparkling wine, ice, a cocktail shaker, a strainer, and a coupe or champagne glass. Ensure your ingredients are chilled, and your tools are clean and ready to use. Once you have everything you need, you can start making your cocktail.

Make a Simple Syrup.
Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan to make the simple syrup for your French 75. Heat the mixture over medium heat, occasionally stirring, until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature. You can store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.

Squeeze the Lemon Juice.
Once you have your simple syrup ready, it’s time to add some fresh Lemon juice to your French 75. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice from one half into a cocktail shaker. Make sure to strain out any seeds or pulp. The lemon juice’s tartness will balance the sweetness of the simple syrup and create a perfectly balanced cocktail.

Combine the Gin, Lemon Juice, and Simple Syrup.
Now that your simple syrup and lemon juice are ready, it’s time to add the gin. First, measure out 2 ounces of gin and pour it into the cocktail shaker. Then, add 1 ounce of the fresh lemon juice and 1/2 ounce of the simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. This will chill the cocktail and mix all the ingredients.

Add the Champagne and Garnish.Once you have shaken the cocktail, strain it into a chilled champagne flute. Top it off with about 2-3 ounces of chilled champagne. To garnish, use a lemon twist or a slice of lemon. Twist the lemon peel over the cocktail to release the oils, then drop it into the drink. And there you have it, a perfectly balanced and refreshing French 75 cocktail that will impress your guests.
