Casa Ferreirinha - A story in every bottle

Casa Ferreirinha is a pioneer and leader brand in non-fortified wines from the Douro, with more than 250 years of history, always in the hands of family members, prioritizing knowledge and excellence. This world reference of wines belongs to Sogrape, which combines science, technology and the knowledge of its best oenologists, to produce the best wines. Luis Sottomayor leads the oenology team. Here are 4 suggestions: The Planalto Reserva 2021 white wine comes from a plateau area of the Douro region, hence its name, where the best grape varieties are selected, to be pressed and then decanted at low temperature. After the necessary limpidity is obtained, a long alcoholic fermentation follows and it is stored in Adega Real. This wine presents a brilliant colour with greenish hints. In the mouth it reveals a well balanced acidity, which gives it freshness and intensity, as well as notes of white and tropical fruits, with a very harmonious finish.  The Papa Figos 2021 red wine presents a unique character, inspired by a similar bird of the region. It is an elagant and vibrant wine, a classic with a touch of modernity from Casa Ferreirinha. The grapes are properly selected. This is followed by a rigorous contralateral ripening for subsequent crushing. The maceration of the grapes and its fermentation takes place in stainless steel and cement vats. Before bottling, and in order to preserve its maximum quality, the grapes are gently pressed and filtered. The result is a ruby-coloured wine which is voluminous in the mouth, with round tannins and well-balanced acidity, where the aromas of red fruit and cocoa notes predominate. Its finish is long. The Papa Figos 2020 white wine is also born from the inspiration of the rare bird of the region, revealing a very Portuguese character and presenting a good quality/price ratio. Composed by Gouveio, Rabigato, Arinto, Códega, Moscatel and Viosinho grape varieties, its grapes are carefully selected and give origin to a dry, bright and greenish white wine. With white fruit, floral and tropical aromas, it reveals a well-integrated acidity. For a better tasting, it is recommended 1-2 years after bottling, at a temperature of 9-12ºC. It goes well with fish dishes and salads. The Esteva 2019 red wine presents elegance and versatility, which makes it an excellent choice for the day-to-day, being another bet of the quality of Casa Ferreirinha wines. Made from Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grape varieties, this wine has a ruby colour, with red fruit aromas, balsamic and floral notes, in a well balanced acidity. It goes well with red meats, fish dishes and salad. Be sure to try these four suggestions from Casa Ferreirinha, with an excellent quality-price ratio and perfect versatility for any occasion.
