Quinta Monte d'Oiro Vindima 13 Outubro 2016

Located in the Lisbon region, Quinta do Monte d'Oiro is a reference in the production of fine wines, since the 17th century. Acquired in 1986 by José Bento dos Santos, the Quinta underwent some replanting in its parcels, which allowed it to create high quality wines. From 2006 onwards, the Quinta started to rely on organic agriculture, changing its image.  The wine Vindima 13 Outubro 2016 was harvested on José Bento dos Santos' 70th birthday, as a tribute to the entire team of the producer, in an attempt to recreate the first harvest of Viognier at Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, in 2003. In 2016, this grape variety was harvested in early September, having left some lines that were harvested on October 13, more than a month later. A total of 1270kg of doirado grapes were then harvested by hand, crushed by direct pressing and fermented in stainless steel vats for 18 days. After aging for 34 months in French oak casks, also used for aging port wine, only 700 bottles were produced. This wine received 17.5 points from Revista Grandes Escolhas (magazine). Do not hesitate to taste it. Available in our online store.
