Something smells fishy? These are the 5 spots you need to hit for great fried seafood!

Vinayak, Assagao

Vinayak has established itself as a fount of good food and delivers just that in every bite. Almost always crowded, make sure you get there early if you want to skip the queue. I love the rawa Fried seafood- the prawns, mussels and chonak were crispy, fresh and fried just right! Their thali sells like hotcakes during lunch. Fried fish, rice, salad, vegetables, curry and sol kadi- this thali is a true Goan superstar! The recheado squids too were quite sublime.

Terry’s, Betim

With an uninterrupted view of the Mandovi river, Terry’s also does their seafood perfectly right! The Golden Fried Prawns are crunchy, crispy golden brown perfection. Dunk these in some mayonnaise and they’ll go perfectly with your drinks! The Rawa Fried chonak will have you calling for another plate in no time- soft, fresh and crisp, have this with a chilled beer.

Spice Goa

Spice Goa is famous across the state for its amazing seafood preparations and it’s easy to see why. The batter-fried squids are golden rings of crunchy goodness. The fried verlyos, on the other hand, are tiny silver fish coated in a marinade of the finest spices and fried crisp. These can be eaten whole, bones and all! Snack on these while you sip on your drink- these are great to nibble on.

Kokni Kanteen

Kokni Kanteen is a household name across Goa for the mouthwatering seafood they offer. Fresh crispy mackerel stuffed with a tantalising green chutney, the Shahensha Mackerels make Omega 3 look so sublime! The Tisreo Dangar are crunchy clam cutlets with a golden fried semolina coating. The deliciously spiced filling can also be made with prawns, oysters or mussels!

Viva Panjim

Viva Panjim is famous throughout Goa for its sensational fried food. The Rawa Fried Mussels are in a league of their own. The Fried Kingfish too was fresh, soft and straight from the sea to the plate! I also had a massive Pomphret Rawa Fry, the goodness of the coast ran through every bite!
