Fans of The Black Sheep Bistro will be happy to know that it now has a sister restaurant, Black Market! Located in a beautiful bungalow just above Fab India in Campal, black Market is your perfect neighbourhood spot. The restaurant is compact and tastefully done up. Around the bar are the dining halls and private booths. The interiors have charcoal-on canvas artworks by Harshada Kerkar whose work includes expressive portraits and vintage photographs that trace the city’s golden days of jazz.

While Black Sheep Bistro is where you’d head for the vibe, Black Market is for when you feel like a warm meal in a cosy alcove. Few of their signature dishes include the crisp ragi lavash stuffed with creamy crab mousse and fermented starfruit, an inventive chorizo popcorn sprayed with ghee foam and smoke giant prawns drizzled with ground coffee beans. They have an array of small as well as large plates to please every appetite. They boast of a range of inventive cocktails flavoured by local ingredients like curry leaves and dill. From craft beers like Arbor, Goa Brewing Co to an eclectic selection of wines and more their list is quite wide.  No meal is complete without dessert, our favourites were a tangy deconstructed lemon tart, and a crumbly apple pie, all served in generous portions.

Black Market also promotes sustainable farming and local produce. It chooses organic harvests and gets it from trusted Goan farmers, butchers and fisherfolk.  Even the alcohol from beer to gin to whiskey is locally sourced. Drop by next time you’re in Panjim, we’re sure you’ll love it!
