EDELWEISS MID & SMALL CAP Fund is a true-to-label mid and smallcap focused fund that invests atleast 65% of its portfolio in stocks forming the bottom quartile of market capitalisation. It seeks to identify smaller companies that promise rapid growth in earnings and subsequent re-rating in valuation multiple.
Earlier known as JP Morgan Smaller Companies Fund, it was absorbed by Edelweiss and merged with its own offering Emerging Leaders last year.
Since then, the Fund manager has cut down the portfolio size from 100-plus stocks to 65.The exposure to top bets remains modest to contain the risk inherent in this segment. Helmed by a competent fund manager, it remains among the most consistent performers in this category, making it a worthy pick.
