Try These 6 DIY Candle Making Projects

Everyone loves candles, even if they don’t want to admit it. Whether you prefer scented or unscented, pillar or tea lights, there’s a Candle for everyone. The problem with candles is that they can be fairly expensive to buy. Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to make them yourself! If you’ve been curious about making your own candles, here are some DIY projects to try at home:

1. Teacup Candles

If you love vintage china, this is the Perfect Diy Candle project for you. If you don’t already have a collection, head to your local thrift store or antique shop and pick up a few teacups in different or matching patterns. Place a wick in the bottom of each teacup and then pour in your melted wax and let it harden. Voila! You have a cut set of vintage-looking candles.

2. Cookie Cutter Candles

These candles are extremely simple to make, and you can use them as decoration or use them as floating candles. Simply collect a few of your favorite cookie cutters and place them on a wax paper-lined tray. Add your wicks then melt down your wax and pour it into the cookie cutters. When the wax hardens, you should be able to remove the candles from the cookie cutters fairly easily.

3. Seashell Candles

These seashell candles are very easy to make, and they are a cute craft anyone can enjoy. Simply take some seashells and clean them well. Next, cut your wicks to just longer than the depth of the seashells and place them inside. Finally, melt down your wax and pour it in then let it harden!

4. Glitter Candles

If you are looking for the perfect DIY candle craft for kids, you can’t go wrong with glitter candles. All you have to do is choose the Container you want to make your candles in and grab some glitter. Place the wicks in the desired container and melt down your wax. Next, stir some craft glitter into the melted wax and pour it into the molds then let it harden.

5. Pressed Herb Candles

This craft is a little more involved, but the result is positively beautiful. Start by gathering your containers – clear glass containers like mason jars work best. Next, gather your dried herbs and place them in the glass containers – you may need to use a little melted wax to hold them in place against the sides of the container. Then, simply add your wick and fill the container the rest of the way with wax.

6. Color Block Candles

This project can be made with colored wax or you can simply melt down crayons in different colors. Take a glass votive or another clear glass container and insert your wick. Next, tilt the container at an angle then pour in some colored wax. Let the wax harden then tilt the container in the opposite direction and pour in another layer. Repeat until the container is filled and the wax hardens.

When it comes to making DIY candles, the possibilities are endless. If you want to make your candles from scratch, you can purchase wax granules to melt down or you can even repurpose old candles that have come to the end of their lifespan. Don’t be afraid to get creative!
