7 Frugal Ways to Spoil Mom this Mother’s Day

Not only did your mother carry you in her belly for nine months, but she endured the painful birthing process to bring you into this world. After all of that, she cared for you, clothed you, and fed you, and she never stopped loving you. No matter how old you are, your mother is still your mother and she deserves to be celebrated. Here are 7 frugal ways to spoil your mom this Mother’s Day:

  1. Make your mom a gourmet meal. Taking mom out to a restaurant can be expensive, so why not save a little money and make the experience more personal at the same time with a homecooked meal? Find a good recipe online and pick up high-quality ingredients. Pair it with a nice one and a treat from your local bakery, and your mom will be feeling fine!
  2. Put together an at-home spa basket. Pamper your mom without paying spa prices by putting together an at-home spa basket. If you’re feeling crafty, make some homemade bath bombs and essential oil lotion to throw into the basket along with scented candles, a bottle of wine, and a relaxing CD. Your mom is sure to love it!
  3. Create a book out of family photos. Moms never get tired of seeing pictures of their kids and grandkids, so why not put some of your favorites together in a picture book? You can find 2o% off deals from companies like Shutterfly to make the project very affordable and you can present it to your mom with nice wrapping and a ribbon.
  4. Send your mom to the movies for the night. Give your mom a pair of movie tickets to take a friend to the movies for the evening. While she’s gone, take care of chores around the house like doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, or making a delicious meal for her to enjoy when she gets home.
  5. Spend the day shopping with mom. Sometimes the best gift you can give your mom is the gift of time. If it’s not shopping, find an activity your mom enjoys that the two of you can do together. Maybe you start with coffee at a local shop followed by a tour of local shops and art galleries. No matter where you go, you’ll be making memories along the way.
  6. Create a coffee or tea gift basket. Pick up a few bags of your mom’s favorite coffee or tea and put together a basket with some cute mugs, teaspoons, and sweeteners. If you’re feeling fancy, you might even throw in a French press or a new coffee grinder.
  7. Frame some of her favorite pictures. Picture books are great, but your mom is only going to look at it so often. By framing her favorite pictures and hanging them around the house, she can enjoy them all day every day.

Spoiling your mom on Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be expensive – you just need a little creativity! If you don’t see an idea here you like, spend some time thinking about the things your mom really enjoys and then build a Gift around it!
