Instant Regret: 10 Things We Wish We Didn’t Do

Have you ever been hit with sudden regret after deciding to do something in the heat of the moment? We've all been there. It's that split second where life flashes before your eyes, and you wish you'd made another choice, but it's too late—it's done! Unfortunately, we can't go back in time to make corrections so the only thing left is learning from our mistakes. Below are the top ten things people do and immediately regret afterwards.

1. Opening Up Too Much

“Opening up and talking too much. Especially when the other person doesn't respond adequately,” one user posted.

Another user replied, “I stopped volunteering information years ago. If asked, I'm honest. But I won't just start revealing things about myself. My words have been used against me too often for me to be loose-lipped.”

2. Overeating

One user shared, “Overeat.”

One user replied, “Binge-eater here. I already regret it, but when you get that hunger, you get that hunger. I sometimes try to quench the attack by eating something low-calorie, like pickles or tomatoes or stuff, but once you get going, you somehow progress to chocolate or ice cream or whatever you got in your fridge, anyway.”

Another user commented, “Came to say this. It's been a real struggle since I've had my baby. I'm not gonna lie for a few weeks. It was a ritual to purge after dinner when I was alone. It's progressed into only eating two meals a day and only one serving. I feel hopeless cause if you look at me, you think, ‘Yeah, she has a problem with food, but it ain't eating too little.' So it continues.”

3. Drinking

One Redditor posted, “Drinking alcohol. As much as I want, it's easy to lose self-control.”

Another user replied, “This is why I had to stop.”

One commenter shared, “On a regular day, I'm like ‘Yeah, I don't really like drinking all that much.' And then I have one beer, and I'm like ‘Alright, let's get heinous.'”

4. Engage in a Debate

“Comment on a controversial topic in a sub to an op who is combative and be the unpopular voice of reason in a sub…” one user shared.

Another user asked, “How can you say that!?”

The first commenter answered, “Lol, I like to take after Colin Robinson and steal users' energy who give it to me… the internet is a great feeding ground, I have found. It's a great hunt! Lmao.”

5. Eating Fast Food

One Redditor commented, “Eat fast food.”

Another user replied, “Specifically Taco Bell for me.”

One commenter added, “It smells so good, but I regret eating Taco Bell every time.”

Another Redditor jokingly commented, “God, this is so true.”

One user added, “Made me laugh. I let mine off about five houses from home, and they generally run to the back gate. Once in a while, there will be a cat I don't see, and they are GONE.”

7. Being Vulnerable With Family
