Most of us enjoy or even revere some of these celebrities or royals. Still, our admiration fades pretty quickly any time we had a direct encounter with a less-than-pleasant attitude, if they make a rude or tone-deaf remark, or if they make controversial or illegal choices in their careers. 

Here are the top eight celebrities that have recently lost our respect:

1. Prince Andrew, Duke of York

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, is a member of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom. He is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and King Charles III's younger brother.

A Redditor posted, “Prince Andrew…..for minor reasons.”

Another user said, “You dropped this: .” 

“So did Andrew.”, one user replied.

“Ah, the sex offender formerly known as prince,” one user commented. 

One user shared,” Andrew, formerly known as Prince.”

Rumor says that the Prince has been told to leave the room at Buckingham Palace that he has lived in for decades.

2. Eric Clapton

“Eric Clapton, he's responsible for “rock against racism” (in the sense that he is the racism that they were rocking against, not that he organized it), he refused to play any venues that required masks or vaccines, and he recently sued a [German] senior… citizen for selling a bootleg Clapton album that belonged to her deceased husband (he'd purchased it from a German department store),” a Reddit user wrote, “She had it listed for like $12.” 

Another replied, “Live music is for those who accept living in a society, not those who revel in anti-social, selfish behavior.”

“You are 100% correct. Refusing to play at venues that require vaccination isn't bad in any way, shape, or form,” a user shared. 

3. Allison Mack

One user brought up a cult leader: “Allison Mack from Smallville. She was a leader in a cult that exploited women and made them sex slaves. Currently in prison.”

“She's serving only three years,” another user added. 

Another Redditor also wrote, “Wild. From the wiki: Mack was a member of NXIVM, a cult posing as a multilevel marketing company. In 2018, she was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy in relation to NXIVM activities. She pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy charges and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2021.”

“I watched a few documentaries of NXIVM because it was weird ‘smart' and rich people were falling for cults even in 2010-2020, and basically, I saw how it started. The leader started to brainwash the whole crowd dividing men from women and somehow coercing them into thinking that a lot of misogynistic ideas he was teaching them were actually empowering,” another user shared.

They continued, “Before the DOS (Dominant over submissive) group was introduced (yea, the sex cult), Allison Mack, as well as all the women, were just learning cool tricks to get over their ‘worst fears' and ‘state of victimism' taught to women since they were little girls, and succeed in their own private lives and careers. Little did they know that he was brainwashing them all into ‘get over the fear of having sex with the leader, get over the abuse refusing to feel victimized' which can be read as: If you are abused, and you feel bad about it, it's your fault; get over it. If you act like an asshole (to other women) and feel guilty about it, you are weak and refuse to succeed in life. Can't walk without stepping on ants, can ya? He told a woman that decided to get out: ‘I see you are committed to being a victim.'

“From that point on, their brains were like scrambled eggs because they were also sleep deprived and starved, all for the ‘suck It up, buttercup' bullshit. I remind you that NXIVM was a management group.”

4. Chris Brown 

The day he hit Rihanna.

A user shared, “Chris Brown. The whole “he hit Rihanna” thing was downplayed in the media. Read the actual police report, and you'll see that he tormented and even attempted to kill her. And this man is still walking and making music and garnering fans. Really does make me sick.”

“I will never understand why people STILL support him. His career should've ended when he hurt Rihanna,” said another user. 

5. Danny Masterson

One Redittor said, “Danny Masterson…Thought he was cool but later found out he is a higher-up in Scientology and got away with raping the wife of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (singer of the mars volta) and poisoned 2 of his dogs.”

Another also shared, “Masterson has raped, I'm pretty sure, four women. And he is not only a rapist, he is a violent rapist. Violent. All the rapes were covered up by Scientology, and the women silenced + ‘punished' within the Scientology organization. Charges have since been brought against him, but he is such a horrible, horrible human being that I not only won't watch That 70s Show in reruns, but when it comes on my TV, I cannot change the channel fast enough.”

6. Ian Watkins

Ian David Karslake Watkins is a singer, songwriter, and musician from Wales and the lead singer and songwriter for the rock band Lostprophets.

A user shared, “I feel like saying “losing respect” doesn't do this justice.” Another replied, “Yeah, maybe I should have put, lost respect but also wanted to see him die a fiery death. The court documents are fucking disgusting and NSFL.”

Another user posted, “I feel so sorry for the rest of the band. They lost their careers because their frontman was a scumbag. The first gig I ever went to was an NME event where [Lostprophets] played. They went on before Andrew WK, and most people left after they came off stage. After the gig, Watkins was round the back of the venue surrounded by teenage girls, swapping “shag” bangles. Me and my friends joined as well because we were teen girls.

“I'm one of those people who looks younger than they are, even then. I was 17 but looked 12 or 13. Some girls were jealous because he spent a few more seconds chatting with me, but if we knew then what we know now. I also still feel sorry for H from Steps.”

7. OJ Simpson

One Redditor posted, “O.J. Simpson. He was so clearly phoning in his performance in The Naked Gun 33 1/3 and didn't do Nordberg justice. I was so put off that I completely stopped following his career after that.”

“The more I hear about this OJ guy, the more I think he's a real jerk,” added another user.

Orenthal James Simpson, nicknamed “Juice,” is an American professional football running back, actor, and broadcaster who played for the National Football League's Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.

8 Elisabeth Moss

“Elisabeth Moss – how do you play the main character in a show like The Handmaid's Tale, yet practice Scientology in your personal life? I don't get it,” posted one user. 

Another added, “She was born into it and refused to discuss it in interviews. When your whole family is in a cult, and you have your career because of the cult, you're not going to be likely to distance yourself publicly. ETA: I think it's also important to remember that the experience of celebrities in Scientology is entirely different from the experience of normals in Scientology. “Especially a cult that tortures people for raising a stink,” replied one user.
