Ortigas
Ortigas is a dense huddle of malls and offices, 5km north of Makati on EDSA. It began to come to life in the early 1980s, when a number of corporations left the bustle of Makati for its relatively open spaces; the Asian Development Bank moved here in 1991 and the old Manila Stock Exchange followed later. Today its biggest draw are the SM Megamall, one of the region’s largest shopping malls, Robinsons Galleria and Podium. Most of the budget stalls surround St. Francis Square Department Store at the back of SM. Head Offices of big corporations are located in the area, among which are the San Miguel Corporation, Meralco, JG Summit, Lopez Group, among others.
