To add money to Kuda Bank account with cards

Kuda Bank levies a fee each time you make a credit or debit card purchase using a payment gateway (such as Paystack, Flutterwave, or Interswitch), which starts the money transfer from your bank card to your Kuda account.

However, fraudsters prefer using this technique to hide their footprints when transferring stolen money because it is difficult to track the origin of credit or debit card funds.

As a result, Kuda has modified its policies for security purposes:

Rule 1: Before adding money using a card, you must upgrade your Kuda account.

We cannot compromise on this since we want to keep everyone and their money as safe as possible.

You can only deposit cash or make transfers into your account without a Bank Verification Number (BVN) and a valid government-issued ID.

To add your BVN and ID, select Identification from the list of options under More on your Kuda dashboard.

Rule #2: After you’ve added up to 100,000 naira to your account with a card, Kuda Bank will stop covering the payment gateway cost.

The 100,000 naira cap on free top-ups implies that after that point, any time you add money to your Kuda Bank account using a card, you’ll have to pay a payment gateway cost.

For local cards, the payment gateway cost is 100 naira plus 1.5% of the amount you’re adding.

Please understand that Kuda Microfinance Bank will inform you of the fee’s amount before transferring funds from your card to your accounts. Kuda Bank is not responsible for this cost.

Cash transfers and deposits to your account are never charged.

When you go close to the free limit, Kuda Bank will make sure you get a notice.

Rule #3: Whenever you top off your Kuda account with an overseas card, you must pay the payment gateway cost.

For international cards, the payment gateway cost is 100 naira plus 4% of the amount you’re adding.

Every time you use your card to add money to your account if it is issued by a bank outside of Nigeria, you will be required to pay the payment gateway fee.
