Deadline: March 31, 2022

Scholarship applications for the Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie Journalism Masters Scholarships 2022 are now being accepted online. The 13th intake of the Master’s Program “International Media Studies” will begin in Bonn in September 2022 with the first class of students. Students in the Master’s Program “International Media Studies” (IMS) come from developing and transition nations with previous media expertise, and the program is uniquely tailored to their needs.

With the University of Bonn, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, and the DW Akademie (DW’s center for international media development, journalism training, and knowledge transfer), the program provides a perfect learning environment for up to 30 students per year as a joint project of the three institutions. Successful candidates from poor and emerging nations can apply for a scholarship and complete their degrees in their native countries, allowing them to get direct access to their respective labor markets.

The interdisciplinary study program is conducted in English, combining topics such as media and development, journalism, communication science and media management. The full-time, four-semester Master’s degree offers an unparalleled mix of research, lectures and practical experience and prepares students for careers in the communications and media industries.
