Many times we hear this phrase from the news, Sensex rose by many points, Nifty rose by many points. Also Sensex tumbled by many points while Nifty fell by many points. So today we will know in this article what is Sensex and Nifty.
Sensex is an index of Mumbai Stock Exchange and also known as BSE. Nifty is the national stock market index called NSE.
What is Sensex?/सेन्सेक्स म्हणजे काय :There are many Companies in the Mumbai stock market, only 30 companies are selected in this Sensex. Companies that are large in size and share capital are selected in the Sensex index. These companies represent the Indian industrial sector
Eg.They represent companies in such sectors as Oil ,Telecom ,Metal & Mine, Vehicle, Banking ,Information Technology ,Energy etc..
The number of companies in the Sensex is always 30, but it changes according to the size of the companies and the share capital.

What is Nifty?/निफ्टी म्हणजे काय? The National Stock Market is known as Nifty and also known as NSE. It also selects 50 companies which are large in size and share capital. Nifty is also called Nifty Fifty as the word Nifty is derived from two words National and Fifty.

Nifty and Sensex include top companies by market size and share capital. The only difference is that Nifty includes top 50 companies while Sensex includes top 30 companies.
