Is the Landline Becoming Extinct? Investment Tip for Blog Visitor

You want to be aware of trends that include an enormous investment opportunity.   This may very well be one of those trends.

Before cell phones, people had to remember everyone's Phone numbers by heart. If they didn't know them off the top of their head, there were little black books beside landline phones that contained contact information. But with the introduction of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and interconnected digital communication platforms, the need to dial traditional phone numbers has decreased significantly. As a result, landlines are becoming rarer and rarer. Is it possible that telephone calls and landlines will soon go extinct?

Telecommunications of the future may focus more on names than numbers.

The data shows that nearly two-thirds of the world's population has an internet connection, while almost three-fifths are active social media users. In 2021, South Africa had 169 cell phone subscribers per 100 people, as compared to only 2.48% with landlines. This shift away from traditional lines is not happening at the same rate internationally, but it is still on the move.

VoIP calls have become increasingly popular due to their low cost and convenience. You no longer need to remember or punch in a long number; you can simply use a name instead, like with emails. This feature has been available since 2006 -- do we really need to keep using outdated phone numbers?

Laschinger remarks that connectivity should be seamless regardless of access method. As society makes technological advancements, having no boundaries between communication platforms will create an efficient telecom infrastructure that everyone can benefit from.
