Tinubu dismisses FAAN, NAMA, and other MDs, announces replacements

President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned a series of changes within the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. These changes involve the suspension, removal, and replacement of several Chief Executive Officers. Affected positions include:

Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the former Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has been replaced by Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as the new substantive Managing Director.

Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has been succeeded by Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk in the same capacity.

Engr. Akinola Olateru, the former Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has been replaced by Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. as the substantive Director-General.

Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, the former Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), has been replaced by Prof. Charles Anosike in the same role.

Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, the former Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), has been replaced by Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector, pending the appointment of a permanent Rector in accordance with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022.

Furthermore, Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, the former Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has been suspended from office to facilitate an unfettered investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Capt. Chris Najomo has taken over as the Acting Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

Additionally, President Tinubu has authorized the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development to commence a diligent process to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers for the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the new leadership prioritizing the safety, convenience, and comfort of Nigerians in all administrative activities within this critical sector.

He has urged for the immediate establishment of world-class policy design, implementation, and regulatory frameworks to align the sector with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

All directives issued by the president take immediate effect.
