Mitacs Globalink Research Internship to Canada 2023 The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is now accepting faculty applications for 2024! This highly competitive initiative invites international undergraduate students from various countries and regions to participate in a 12-week research internship. The program welcomes students from Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside esteemed Canadian university faculty members in diverse academic disciplines, including science, engineering, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences.
With over 70 universities across Canada offering Globalink Research Internships, interested individuals can explore our list of academic partners to find more information. Additionally, alumni of the Globalink Research Internship who wish to pursue graduate studies in Canada are eligible to apply for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship.
Overview of GRI Cycle and Important Dates
April to June 2023: Faculty Application
Faculty members are invited to submit their research projects to Mitacs during this period. The deadline for project proposals is June 8, 2023, at 1 p.m. PT. These projects will be considered for the 2024 Globalink Research Internships.
July to August 2023: Faculty Application Vetting
Mitacs reviews the submitted projects and communicates the decisions to the professors. All successful projects are made available in an online database for student applicants to access.
August to September 2023: Student Application
International students can now submit their applications and select research projects from the online database.
October 2023: Student Application Vetting

Mitacs conducts an eligibility review of the student applications.
November 2023 to January 2024: Matching
Mitacs provides professors with a shortlist of student candidates for their projects. Professors then review student applications, conduct interviews, and rank the applicants based on suitability. Mitacs collects the rankings from both students and professors and finalizes offers to students. The final results will be announced in February.
February to April 2024: Pre-internship Preparation
Successful students begin working with their Canadian host professors to arrange pre-internship details. Mitacs oversees logistics and coordinates with university administrative offices during this phase.
May to October 2024: Internship
Globalink research interns arrive in Canada and collaborate with their supervising professors for 12 weeks, focusing on their designated research projects.
