By: Liton Paul    |   Date: – September 2022

Tansim Chief Executive Officer Sivarajah Ramanathan stated that the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (Tansim) intends to assist the formation of at least 10,000 companies in the state by 2026.

Tansim is Tamil Nadu’s key agency for startups, and it is developing a new startup strategy to help the state’s new investor ecosystem.

“Tansim was founded a year ago. Our goal is to launch 10,000 new businesses over the next four years. “This is our mid-term vision,” Ramanathan explained.

The agency will concentrate on the existing 80 incubation centers in Tamil Nadu, connecting them with markets and investors. It will also establish a startup database and a mentor network. This is to investigate how many startups exist in each district, their financial information, and the industries in which they operate.

“In colleges, we will promote entrepreneurship networks.” Furthermore, it ensures that more players receive finance outside of areas like Chennai and Coimbatore, “he said.

Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan revealed plans to establish regional startup hubs in Erode, Madurai, and Tirunelveli in the recently finished Budget to ensure the growth of the startup ecosystem throughout the state.

A corpus of Rs 30 crore has also been given for Tansim to help SC and ST entrepreneurs launch their businesses. In addition, the minister allocated Rs 50 crore to the Emerging Sector Seed Fund, which would make equity investments in Tamil Nadu-based entrepreneurs.

The state also intends to invest Rs 75 crore in establishing a startup centre in Chennai through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).

“We aim to be one of the top three states in terms of start-up ecosystem-through encouraging ideas, investing, generating cash, and cultivating an entrepreneurial attitude,” Ramanathan said.

With the goal of achieving dispersed growth, the state government is focusing its efforts in the long run on agricultural technology start-ups and climate-focused players.

Tansim anticipates at least 5–10% of enterprises receiving finance in the next few days under the existing strategy, which will help the state’s job situation.

Conclusion:

Tansim Chief Executive Officer Sivarajah Ramanathan stated that the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (Tansim) intends to promote startups in Tamil Nadu. The Tansim has also announced that it will be giving away financial aid of Rs. 1crore to 10 startups in Tamil Nadu.
