Katharine McPhee and David Foster Return to the Stage Following Tragic Loss of Nanny.

Katharine Mcphee and David Foster have shown remarkable resilience by returning to the stage just two weeks after the heartbreaking passing of their 2-year-old son Rennie’s nanny, Yadira Calito.

The couple, who exchanged vows in 2019, delivered a poignant performance at a private event in Ravello, Italy, on August 22. Joining McPhee, 39, and Foster, 73, was McPhee’s former “Waitress” co-star, Erich Bergen.

Bergen, 37, shared glimpses from the event on his Instagram account on August 23. He captioned the post with, “Singing Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons songs in Italy just seems appropriate. So great to perform with my friends @davidfoster @katharinefoster and @thelondonessentials.” McPhee graced the occasion in an elegant short white dress with spaghetti straps, while Foster, donned in a white suit, played the piano.

This poignant performance unfolded nearly two weeks after McPhee disclosed her inability to partake in the final two stops of her and Foster’s Asia tour due to a “horrible tragedy” within their family. On August 11, McPhee shared via Instagram, “At least one of us needs to get back home to our family.” Foster proceeded with the last two shows, which occurred on August 11 and 12 in Jakarta.

The devastating incident occurred on August 9, claiming the life of 55-year-old Yadira Calito. According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department to Us Weekly on August 15, an 84-year-old woman mistakenly accelerated her car into the customer reception area of a Toyota car dealership in San Fernando Valley. The driver, who has not been arrested in connection to Calito’s passing, confused the gas pedal for the brakes, resulting in Calito being pinned under the vehicle and dragged around 20 feet. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Calito was tragically pronounced dead.

Insiders recently shared with Us that McPhee is grappling with profound grief. The source revealed, “They were all very close and considered their nanny to be a part of the family.” The insider further noted that the couple is extending unwavering support to Calito’s family, including assistance in making arrangements. However, the road to recovery for both McPhee and Calito’s family will be gradual, and McPhee is steadfastly standing by her son’s side during this heart-wrenching period.

Although McPhee has not yet publicly addressed the loss since announcing her absence from the Jakarta shows, Megan Maybee, the director of communications for the car dealership, conveyed a statement to Us on August 17.

The statement conveyed condolences, stating: “We extend our deepest condolences to Yadira’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of such a vibrant life in such tragic circumstances is a heavy burden to bear, and we share in their grief.”

The statement continued: “At Hamer Toyota, we take the safety of our customers and our community very seriously. We are fully cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department as they conduct their investigation into this unfortunate event. Our commitment is to ensure transparency, assist the LAPD in every possible way, and to learn from this incident so we can prevent such tragedies in the future.”
