Bitcoin Beach In El Salvador Will Get $203 Million In Infrastructural Development

El Zonte, a beach in El Salvador nicknamed “Bitcoin Beach” due to its acceptance of the cryptocurrency, will get an infrastructure development fund as part of a strategic plan that the government of El Salvador will implement.

These funds will be used to construct a new set of amenities for tourists to enjoy when visiting the area.

The Fund was used to develop bike routes, a new drainage system, pedestrian crossings, and 14 bridges in Bitcoin Beach

The beach has become legendary due to its use of Bitcoin (BTC) to build a circular economy in the region. These funds will be used to construct brand-new amenities that will improve the vacation experience for visitors to the destination.

These repairs will benefit the La Libertad area and the Surf City beach, known as El Tunco. According to Bukele, the investment totals more than $203 million. It includes bike routes, a new drainage system, pedestrian crossings, and 14 bridges.

It is part of the Surf City project’s second phase, which aims to bring Tourism-boosting strategic initiatives to the region. These expenditures are consistent with what the government has indicated in the past about the role that BTC and surfing have played in the rise of national tourism.

A recent analysis indicated that El Salvador was among the nations that had already returned to pre-pandemic levels of tourism-derived income.

A recent analysis indicated that El Salvador was one of the countries that had already regained tourism income to pre-pandemic levels. Bukele attributed this to three factors:

  • the ongoing struggle against gangs in the country
  • the expansion of the surf business
  • the cryptocurrency Bitcoin

Other El Salvador government officials have praised Bitcoin for its role as a driving force behind this year’s surge in tourism. Morena Valdez, El Salvador’s tourism minister, stated in April that using Bitcoin as a legal currency has led to a 30% increase in the industry’s development.
