Ishaan Khatter and Wamiqa Gabbi appear in Vishal Bhardwaj’s newest short film

The latest short film from director Vishal Bhardwaj stars Ishaan Khatter and Wamiqa Gabbi, and was shot entirely on an iPhone 14 Pro. Get ready to be taken on an incredible journey with two amazing actors that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Apple has created a brilliant method to promote the features of its top-tier iPhones; the tech company often creates short films, which are helmed by renowned directors. These short films, which are all shot using the most recent iPhone models, cover a range of genres and filmmaking techniques. And now, renowned Indian director Vishal Bhardwaj has joined a select group of distinguished filmmakers from around the world to create a short film for Apple.
The 30-minute Bollywood-style musical, titled Fursat, was recorded using the iPhone 14 Pro and made available on YouTube on Friday. According to one review, the movie is “a magical tale about a man who is so fixated on influencing the future that he fears losing what he values most in the present.” Wamiqa Gabbi and Ishaan Khatter, who is now given the moniker Ishaan, are the stars of Fursat.

With vocalists like Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher, the short has an original score by Bhardwaj and lyricist Gulzar. Shiamak Davar created the choreography for Fursat, which was directed by Swapnil Sonawane. You cannot go about with a classic film camera because it comes with 10 personnel, 3 attendants, and 10 boxes of lenses. Quickness is impossible. In that sense, the iPhone liberated me, according to Bhardwaj.

Chinese New Year – Through the Five Passes, a 17-minute short film from Peng Fei, was released by Apple earlier this year. This was also captured on iPhone 14 Pros, much like Fursat. Life is But a Dream, a short film directed by Park Chan-wook that was made with an iPhone 13 Pro, was released last year. Apple released an ad in 2021 that featured iPhone 12 Pros and was shot by renowned director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki. For his work on Gravity, Birdman, and The Revenant, Lubezki holds the distinction of having won three consecutive Oscars.

Damien Chazelle, the Academy Award–winning director of La La Land and Whiplash, created the Vertical Cinema short for Apple in 2020. The nine-minute movie was captured using an iPhone 11 Pro in portrait mode. David Leitch, the director of Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2, also shot his action-packed short film Snow brawl on iPhone 11 Pros.

Ishaan’s most recent appearance was in the slasher comedy Phone Bhoot, and his upcoming role is in the war drama Pippa. Wamiqa previously collaborated with Vishal on the Netflix short Modern Love: Mumbai and the two will team up once more for Khufiya.
