AltNews co-founders Pratik Sinha and Mohammed Zubair and Indian author Harsh Mander are among the favorites for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, according to unofficial lists released ahead of Friday’s announcement.

The Nobel Peace Prize will be announced in Oslo, Norway. Before the announcement, predictions are made about who and which organizations are the favorites and the best candidates to win one of the world’s most prestigious awards.

In a report, TIME magazine compiled a list of “some of the favorites to win based on nominations that have been released through Norwegian lawmakers, bookmakers’ predictions, and tips from the Peace Research Institute Oslo.”

The list includes journalists Mr. Sinha and Mr. Zubair, who is “tirelessly fighting misinformation in India”. The Time report said the duo “methodologically debunked rumors and fake news circulating on social media and sparked hate speech.

Mr. Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweets. The TIME article said that Mr. Zubair’s arrest was condemned by journalists around the world who “argued that it was retaliation for his fact-checking work.”
