According to the self-declaration, if approved, there will be more prospects for Indian poultry on the international market, which will help the nation’s economy flourish.

According to a statement by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, Parshottam Rupala, “this is big news and will be a game changer for our poultry sector.”

According to the ministry, India provided a self-declaration on October 13—World Egg Day—that it was free of HPAI in 26 poultry compartments, which WOAH validated. Four states—Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh—have these chicken divisions.

“This recognition by WOAH signifies India’s commitment to international bio security standards and will contribute to enhancing the export potential of Indian poultry and poultry products, including meat and eggs,” said the ministry.

India exported poultry and poultry products to 64 countries in 2022–2023, earning USD 134 million in revenue.
