Everyrealm CEO Sued for Harassment

Trouble at Everyrealm, the successful metaverse startup. Its CEO, Janine Yorio, as well as several other employees, have been sued by two former employees for harassment.

Teyo Johnson, the former Strategic Partnerships Director at the company and a retired Afroamerican NFL player, claims that Yorio has harassed him on a racial basis. And the former human resources director, Katherine Yost, is filing a lawsuit due to being discriminated against for her bisexuality and disability.

The plaintiffs’ lawyers stated that they have spoken with a number of other Everyrealm employees with similar complaints. It seems that additional lawsuits will follow.

Everyrealm is a company for developing and selling land parcels in metaverse game worlds like The Sandbox or Decentraland. In February, it received $60 million in Series A funding. It also has celebrity investors such as Will Smith and The Weeknd.

The company only has some 50 employees, and with such a high percentage of them feeling that they’re being harassed, it seems the working atmosphere there is thoroughly unpleasant, to say the least.
