Empowering Nigerian Youths: Ministry of Youth Development Teams Up with ATC for ICT Training.

In an exciting development for Nigerian youths, the Ministry of Youth Development, under the leadership of Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, has forged a strategic partnership with American Tower Corporation (ATC) Nigeria to provide invaluable Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training opportunities.

The collaborative initiative was unveiled during a recent visit by ATC representatives, led by Mr. Ehize Ilozavbie, the Public Affairs Manager for Africa, to the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. Dr. Bio-Ibrahim expressed the ministry’s eagerness to join forces with ATC to broaden access to Ict Training for young people across the nation.

Dr. Bio-Ibrahim emphasized the ministry’s core objective of nurturing an enabling environment for Youth Development and preparing them for the demands of the modern economy. She echoed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to this cause, underlining the importance of equipping Nigerian youths with relevant skills for success in the 21st century.

“We are poised to collaborate with you, particularly in the realm of information communication technology, a vital area where our youths can greatly benefit,” Dr. Bio-Ibrahim stated.

Mr. Ilozavbie affirmed ATC’s dedication to bolstering Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, highlighting the organization’s extensive footprint spanning 33 states. He underscored ATC’s community-focused approach, which includes operating skill acquisition centers that offer free training to local residents. Notably, ATC’s vast network of over 8000 telecom towers across the country plays a pivotal role in facilitating connectivity.

Moreover, Mr. Ilozavbie emphasized ATC’s commitment to sustainability, with nearly all of its facilities powered by renewable energy sources. He revealed that ATC has already provided complimentary training to over 50,000 Nigerians through its nationwide initiatives.

Highlighting a specific program, Mr. Ilozavbie introduced the “Girls in ICT” initiative, designed to empower secondary school girls with ICT skills. He proudly noted that graduates of ATC’s training programs have successfully secured employment opportunities both domestically and internationally, underscoring the tangible impact of these initiatives on participants’ lives.

By leveraging the expertise and resources of both the Ministry of Youth Development and ATC Nigeria, this collaborative endeavor aims to equip Nigerian youths with the digital skills essential for personal growth and national development.
