Economical airline Akasa Air revealed its plan on Thursday to buy 150 Boeing 737 MAX narrowbody planes. This move is aimed at making the airline bigger in India, both within the country and internationally. The announcement was made at an event called “WINGS India 2024” in Hyderabad. Akasa Air’s order includes Boeing’s 737 MAX 10 and 737 MAX 8-200 jets, excluding the Max 9 variant, which has faced issues and is currently grounded.

The event in India brought together important players in the aviation industry, such as plane makers, airlines, and government representatives. This highlights the industry’s ability to adapt and thrive, especially with a focus on international flights.

Akasa Air’s decision to order a significant quantity of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fits with the global trend of airlines getting ready for increased air travel.

Vinay Dube, the Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, expressed excitement about this historic order, stating that it positions Akasa to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade. He emphasized the growth potential in India’s aviation market and highlighted the airline’s goal to connect people, places, and cultures.

Dube mentioned that the new planes will strengthen Akasa Air’s operations as the airline plans to expand both within India and internationally. He expressed confidence in the airline’s ability to serve millions of satisfied travelers as they enter the next phase of their growth.
