Which necessitated the checking of the ‘embedded systems’ for sensitivity to calendar dates. During that period the new concept of SDK (Software Development Kit)/API (Application Programming Interface) emerged, and it created a demand in most Engineering Applications.

The CAD (computer-aided design) industries realized its importance and Hi-Tech was one of the early entrants to do programming using API, and SDK in customizing the CAD software then available according to the customer requirements.

Object Oriented Programming was widely used in this type of software customization. This use of predefined programming modular units (objects, classes, subclasses, and so forth) helped in order to make programming faster and easier to maintain.

Object-oriented languages help to manage complexity in large programs. Objects packaged data and the operations on them so that only the operations are publicly accessible and internal details of the data structures are hidden. This information hiding made large-scale programming easier by allowing a programmer to think about each part of the program in isolation.
