According to a recent study, most members of Generation Z think that if former President Donald Trump wins the November election, he will significantly improve the nation.

Is Trump Turning Out to Sound Appealing to Gen Z?

Republicans have had a difficult time winning over young people, who are seen to be more inclined to favor liberal or progressive ideas. Recent electorate surveys for 2024, however, indicate that Trump—who is still the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination over Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and ambassador to the UN—may be gaining traction with Gen Z voters, a group whose backing is essential to President Joe Biden’s bid for a second term.

Making the Country Better

According to a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris study, Gen Z voters think that if Trump defeats Biden, he will have a beneficial influence by upending the political system. The poll asked respondents: “Do you think Donald Trump is someone who will shake up the country for the better or do you think he is a danger to democracy and will hopelessly divide the country if elected?”

The poll, which polled 2,022 registered voters from February 21 to 22, found that 65% of respondents between the ages of 18 and 24 thought he would “shake up the country for the better,” while just 35% saw him as a “danger to democracy.”

The majority of voters in Gen Z believed that Trump will fundamentally alter the course of American politics, more than any other age group, except for those 65 and above, according to the study. Of all the respondents, 56% thought he would change things up for the better in the nation, while 44% thought he was dangerous.

Biden Seems to Have Alienated Young Voters

The survey is the most recent indicator that Biden’s prospects of winning the support of young people are declining, as it also reveals that some Democrats have become more accepting of Trump since 2020. Regarding his age, the President has been questioned by detractors who want to know if a new generation of leaders should take over the Democratic Party. Young Voters, many of whom have urged him to support a truce in the conflict and that he hasn’t done enough with debt relief, have been enraged with his positions on matters like student loan relief and the battle between Israel and Hamas.

Has Biden Failed to Live Up to Gen Z’s Expectations?

Trump’s positions on matters like student loans, Israel, and climate change are also unlikely to alienate young people who believe Biden has fallen short of their expectations on these themes. Still, other surveys show that Biden is still leading among young voters.

7% of Young Voters Remain Undecided

According to the study, voters between the ages of 18 and 24 are more likely to support Trump than any other candidate, with 51% of them indicating they will do so in November. Only 42% of respondents indicated they would vote for Biden, and 7% said they were unsure.
