5 days in Porto (Portugal)

I did a short business trip to Porto. Again I was able to enjoy the most delicious food there. I guarantee you Portuguese food is one of the best & healthiest in the world. One place that surprised me this time was Honest Greens which gave very fresh and nicely decoated food!

Thailand trip booked

I booked a 4 weeks trip to Thailand with Austrian Airlines. I paid 774 EUR for my ticket, considering its a European Airline I think thats a very good price. Austrian airline def has good standards when it comes to comfort, food, service and of course safety.

I am going for 29 days since I can travel there visa free for 30 days.

I am leaving the 23rd of November so that means my november update will probably be posponed.

I cant wait to skip some of the European winter and to see the Thai nature!

I did not decide yet if I would do any trip in October. I guess I should save some money for Thailand as well!

September in the stockmarket

My Portfolio continued its freefall. Its not a big issue because September is historically always a bad month. The last good September was in 2016. I fully expect a recovery by the end of October to start. Meanwhile we just need to bite our beeth.

My Portfolio

My Portfolio has increased to 329686 EUR (+1718). I actually deposited about 12000 EUR in September so that means I lost 10k in unrealised gains in September. I hope I picked a good time to invest a big sum! This money came from my savings account (you can see the status on this bellow). I have been moving money from my savings into stocks for a while now starting in 2021 where you can see a big jump on the chart bellow.

ETFs

The core of my long term strategy is ETF‘s and over the long run the perform very well! I bought more $VWCE this month.

Dividend portfolio

I sold off two more stocks this month: Serica Energy that ran up after the oil prices went up, and BASF. Serica because of the UK tax risk combined with the fact that I dont really want to be in oil, and BASF because I just don’t see much growth the next years. So far the performance of this portfolio is pretty bad, which is why I am investing more into ETFs right now.

I expect good earnings to turn around some of these stocks!

Growth Portfolio

No big changes here. I do think I paid a good price for Paypal even if its down a bit. Agronomics anounced a 3% buyback program, but I find it a bit weird since they have no income. Or do they expect a company to IPO in the near future?

Crypto

I am HODLing all coins I get from cash back for now and was able to already collect 12992 coins. Im still down 57%.

Real Estate

I currently owe one apartment that I purchased in 2010 for 136.000. I got it re-estimated in 2020 at it was valued at 185.000 EUR. I did a re-evaluation of my apartment that values it at 205000 EUR.

Startups

Right now I have 1200 EUR still active in startups.

I am using Spreds to purchase these startups, but given my return it is not something I recommend to do.

Retirement funds

I get an update just once a year, so I will update it also just once a year. This is from end of 2022. I will update it again in December 2023.

Savings

This was last updated on 31-08-2023.

I just update in September, as I don’t think its very spectacular to write about my savings here. I have to much savings and Im working hard to bring this down, as 98k in savings is WAY to much. 50k should be an absolute maximum.
