Wakeboarding in August

While I did not travel I tried to focus on my sportive side. I had 11 moments in August where I did sports. My goal is to increase this number in September, but its hard to motivate myself beyond sporting 3 times per week.

Apart from cycling I went wakeboarding, and this time I felt very comfortable in departure, something I struggled with a lot last year. Its a good atlernative for surfing for which we do not have the right waves in Belgium

Lakeside paradise is located in Knokke, a small coasting city where I’ve been going for many years.

August in the stockmarket

My total Portfolio dropped about 1.5% in August. As my work did not pay me yet for my trip abroad to Porto this lead to a drop in my Net Worth. If they had paid in time I would have ended slightly positive. Anyway we will just add it to September

My Portfolio

My Portfolio has increased to 327968 EUR (+3226). Mainly thanks to 6100 EUR of extra investments in August. This includes $VWCE and an additional to my growth Portfolio: Paypal

ETFs

The core of my long term strategy is ETF‘s. My ETFs actually gained slightly between 0-1% this month.

Dividend-Value Portfolio

The biggest change in my dividend portfolio is that I decided to sell off Britisch American Tobacco. I decided I no longer want to own Tobacco stocks. I bought it in may because it made sense from a value perspective, but it does not make sense to me from an ethical perspective. I generally did not enjoy to read the earnings either. I made a 1% loss on this sale.

I did buy more of Cliq Digital and 360 Digitech Inc.

Cliq Digital is a hard to understand company but with a 27% growth and 9% dividend, trading at P/E 4 its not hard to tell that its undervalued even if there is risk to a small cap company. I like the company generally but I would prefer that they did more buybacks rather then putting everything in the highly taxed dividend. I fully expect Cliq Digital to rebound from these lows.

360 Digitech Inc. is comitted to return value to shareholders with dividends and buybacks which is uncommon for a Chinese company to be honest, but since they are comitted I am also comitted to invest.

My Semi stocks $ATS and $INTC continued to move up away from their downpoint. Both continue to be on track for their technology timeline and factory buildout, so I remain a happy investor.

$HPQ reported earnings. The stock went down 7% the day after. I thought the sell off was a bit uncalled for. They have been paying back debt, buying up shares and giving a dividend. Everything I like about a company. Their printing business is in trouble, but they do have growth areas left in Poly and printing of construction buildings.

Serica Energy shot back up as energy prices on both oil and gass started to rise and UK goverment put a bottom on the windfall tax (even if its very low).

Growth Portfolio

I added Paypal to my portfolio as it touched 2017 prices. They are doing huge buybacks returning value to shareholders and paying back debt, which is what I like to see in a company. What convinced me the most is that the cash flow is actually higher then the earnings. I haven’t seen that very often in a comapny and this will allow them to return the value to shareholders they promise. Source: Simply Wall St.

Crypto

I am HODLing all coins I get from cash back for now and was able to already collect 11678 coins. Im still down 57%.

Real Estate

I currently owe one apartment that I purchased in 2010 for 136.000. I got it re-estimated in 2020 at it was valued at 185.000 EUR. I did a re-evaluation of my apartment that values it at 205000 EUR.

Startups

Right now I have 1200 EUR still active in startups.

I am using Spreds to purchase these startups, but given my return it is not something I recommend to do.

I get an update just once a year, so I will update it also just once a year. This is from end of 2022. I will update it again in December 2023.

I just update in September, as I don’t think its very spectacular to write about my savings here. I have to much savings and Im working hard to bring this down, as 98k in savings is WAY to much. 50k should be an absolute maximum.
