FI Hobby #1: cycling

For those who read my blog for a while know I am a frequent cyclist, both in Belgium and abroad. Right now I am doing about 100km per week but my goal is to be able to do 100km in one ago. I am hoping to do this by end of summer.

Tomorrow I actually have a 70km ride planned!

FI Hobby #2: sailing

My second hobby is sailing. I usually sail Hobbycat Catamarans but now I am looking into yacht sailing. Noticed how both of my hobbies I can move large distances? On my bike I could cycle all the way to Berlin from Belgium and on my boat I could sail anywhere in the world.

Well lets not get ahead of ourselves because I do not know how to pilot a yacht yet. I am currently looking into taking some classes in summer. Generally I think both hobbys would make great FI hobbies for when I reach Financial Independence.

I can really see myself sailing to Portugal, or why not… Africa?

May in the stockmarket

Its not difficult to notice that my dividend Portfolio is underperforming the stockmarket YTD. That is because there is a flight to safety right now of just a handful of big cap stocks. My hope is that in June as inflation continues to trend down it will expand to other mid and small cap safe stocks.

Total Net Worth

After a horrible 2022 my Net Worth is finally going up again. Not yet as the same speed of before but at a good pace nevertheless. My assests are mainly Stocks, Real Estate and Cash.

My Portfolio

My Portfolio has increased to 287519 EUR (+7959). I invested a little over 6000 EUR, so a slight increase in profit there.

ETFs

The core of my long term strategy is ETF‘s. My ETFs have a YTD gain of 12242, proving once again that they are a VERY effective strategy!

Dividend-Value Portfolio

My dividend-value Portfolio dropped a further 3% after an initial loss in March & April and is now also reporting a loss YTD.

The big drop my dividend stocks had in may is nothing that I did not had before.I watch my stocks closely and none of them have any reason to not think they would not recover.

Britisch American Tobacco is trading at 10 year lows, so it seemed like a good time to step in!

Growth Portfolio

After Palantir doubled in one month I decided to sell it. I love the company but I can’t really defend holding a stock that is trading at such high valuations.

Crypto

I am HODLing all coins I get from cash back for now and was able to already collect 9945 coins.

Real Estate

I currently owe one apartment that I purchased in 2010 for 136.000. I got it re-estimated in 2020 at it was valued at 185.000 EUR. I did a re-evaluation of my apartment that values it at 205000 EUR.

Startups

Right now I have 1200 EUR still active in startups. I would like to sell this as quickly as possible.

I am using Spreds to purchase these startups.

I get an update just once a year, so I will update it also just once a year. This is from end of 2022. I will update it again in December 2023.

I just update in December, as I don’t think its very spectacular to write about my savings here.
