Web infrastructure platform Cloudflare suffered another major outage earlier today, causing failure to half of the Internet, disabling major communication platforms and crypto exchanges, including Discord and FTX.

Crypto users who tried to access the websites of service providers like FTX, Bitfinex, CoinMarketCap, and OKX, came across with a “500 Internal Server Error” message, during the Cloudflare outage, which lasted for 25 minutes.

The affected exchanges informed users about it via Twitter as soon as they noted of the issue. OKX’s CEO, Jay Hao asked if there is any web3 alternative to prevent such from happening in the future.

FTX also informed noted to its users about the outage and that its markets are available in post-only mode.

Interestingly, the Cloudflare outage did not affect a few crypto exchanges, which includes Binance. Binance’s CEO Changpeng Zhao said the exchange had a redundant setup to prevent such incidents when asked why Binance was still up and running during the downtime.

Users can now access affected crypto exchange websites after Cloudflare has restored its servers. The company said it would keep monitoring the results, although cause of the outagewas not disclosed.

This isn’t the first time Cloudflare has suffered an outage that affected crypto websites. Another similar incident In August 2020 has brought Bitfinex and several other major websites to a brief pause. The platform reported last week, a system failure that affected websites in some parts of the world.

Meanwhile, Cloudflare recently announced support for Ethereum Gateway which enables users to read and write access to the Ethereum network without installing any software on their devices.

In support Ethereum’s POS transition, the web infrastructure platform also plans to launch a fully stake ETH validator node in the coming months.
