How will your student save money Attending College?

I am sure the cost of College goes through many parents.  The thought probably gets worse the closer they get to graduating.  I maybe have one of the lucky ones.  My parents had money set aside either in college savings bonds or other ways for myself to attend college.  How early should a person start planning for their child’s college education?

Ways to Save Money for College

** The option to maybe split a apartment with someone instead of the dorm.  Then you would also not have to pay a meal plan while on campus either.

** Maybe you are close enough to the school you can stay at home and commute to school.

** When living on campus, there could be the option of doing a work study where you can make some money.  This would be working somewhere on campus like the library, dorms, or snack shop.

** Renting books or buying used books. Check out Amazon for books.

** Amazon Prime for Students — able to watch movies, get purchases with no shipping costs, books and more.

** Look for Scholarships in your area for your genealogy, or an interest of yours.  One may be surprised what scholarships there are out there.

** Use Swagbucks before and in college to earn gift cards for spending or going out to eat.

College can be expensive but we should not let it be.  Parent and students to be creative in finding ways to save money when going to college.  There is no need to stress yourself out being broke or paying back loans after finishing school.  Paying back student loans can be expensive, so check out options for refinancing here.  Take time to sit down with your future college student and discuss the possible option for when they attend college.  Don’t wait to the last minute.  It is never to early to start saving money away for college down the road.
