Just as summer came and went in the blink of an eye, winter will do the same before we know it. Even the biggest events and happenings can sneak up on us if we don’t pay attention, especially in January and February when it seems like every weekend is more action-packed than the last. Below are some of the most notable events to keep an eye on and plan around so you can get the most out of your winter in Aspen Snowmass!

Holiday Tree Lighting at The Little Nell | December 11, 5-6 pm

This festive, family-friendly event welcomes guests and the community to the courtyard at The Little Nell. Count down to the exciting tree lighting, enjoy complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, gather to sing carols together, and snap photos with Santa Claus.

Snowmass Luminescence | December 18 – February 26, Sunset-9 pm

Snowmass Luminescence, an interactive art and light display brought to you by Snowmass Tourism and Aspen Snowmass will immerse you and your family in a dazzling world of light and art. Skip the Skittles Gondola ride between the Snowmass Mall and Base Village and, instead, stroll through The Tunnel, an interactive series of LED illuminated walkways and arches that will ignite your senses. In addition, you can experience a large-scale interactive LED installations by acclaimed artists, Wave by Squidsoup and Electric Dandelion by Liquid PLX.

Audi Ajax Cup | December 30, All Day

Benefiting the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club’s 2,300-plus athletes — as well as its scholarships and programs — the Audi Ajax Cup features head-to-head slalom races on the Thunderbowl racecourse at Aspen Highlands.

Aspen X Games | January 27 – 29, All Day

X Games welcomes back fans to Buttermilk in Aspen, Colorado for the 22nd consecutive year January 27-29! Nearly 100 of the world's top winter athletes will take center stage and will compete in the biggest snow sports event of the year. X Games Aspen is FREE to attend and will have live coverage of the event on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC.

Aspen Palm Tree Music Festival | February 24-25, All Day

Audi FIS Ski World Cup | March 3 – 5, All Day

Aspen Snowmass is gearing up for the return of America’s Downhill™ course on Aspen Mountain—a steep, corkscrewing technical track overlooking the town of Aspen—from March 3-5, 2023. Premiere alpine racers will suit up, clip in, and compete against each other (and the clock) in men’s Super-G and Downhill, offering onlookers everything from speed-fueled upsets to fairytale endings, all adding new lore to Aspen’s strong ties in ski racing.

Throughout the weekend, local and global audiences will congregate in our soulful ski town for free outdoor concerts, events, ceremonies, and incredible skiing and riding across all four of our mountains.
