In the eight years since Barack Obama took office as president of the United States, his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, has embraced fashion as a powerful form of communication. Over the period of eight years she has had a few favourite designers such as Jason Wu, Michael Kors and Tadashi Shoji. It has been nice to see that the First Lady Michelle Obama did not always like to play it safe, we saw her surprising us with bold colors, prints and accessories. Check out some of her best fashion moments before she leaves her post and we all know for sure that there will be at least one more grand occasion for us to witness and knowing her we bet she has saved the best for last!
Through all these years First Lady Michelle Obama has had a brilliant fashion and wardrobe advisor by her side, Meredith Koop. She has been working with her since 2008 and they have both become good friends as well. In 2009 she wore a Jason Wu gown for the inauguration ball and since then all her fashion decisions have been very inspired. We have seen famous American designers such as Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors and Naeem Khan all featured in her wardrobe. She has also been seen in more affordable priced brands and she has been known to wear a number of styles by young designers.
“I am impressed by Meredith’s ability to think not only about fashion but also the moment and the message.” —Michelle Obama
