Keeping hydrated (the easy way)

We know that a healthy diet with lots of water will allow Skin to keep hydrated and regenerate. Lets start with your 8 glasses of water a day. Many people use the excuse they just can’t find the time and we are all guilty of not drinking enough water. However, there are a few little tricks to up your hydration without it becoming a chore:
Take a 1.5L bottle of water to work and make sure that you’ve finished it by the end of the day. The remaining 500ml can be easily made up by ensuring you have a couple of glasses of water when you get up/before you leave home, a glass when you get home, have a couple of glasses with your dinner and a further glass before you go to bed.If you feel all that water is a bit much try to add a slice of cucumber and/or lemon/lime/sprig of mint which will liven up the taste and is especially cooling in the summer.Instead of reaching for fizzy or sugary drinks which are bad for your waistline, teeth and are dehydrating, dress up a cold glass of water with your favourite fruit (e.g. slice of lemon or a couple of sliced strawberries) and leave to infuse in the fridge. This will provide a delicious and healthy way to keep hydrated.Caffeine is also incredibly dehydrating and we would definitely advise switching you regular tea or coffee for herbal tea or our favourite Rooibos tea (https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/beverage/health-benefits-of-red-rooibos-tea.html), which has a whole host of health properties including skin rejuvenation! After drinking the tea, you can use the contents of the bag (once cooled) as a face mask/scrub as Rooibos contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which are used in many chemical peels to brighten and freshen the skin. Can’t simply give up that morning coffee/cup of tea? We totally understand and one way to ensure you remain hydrated would be to chase it with an equally sized cup of water.
With a busy lifestyle, its easy to fall into bad habits but we hope these simple and quick suggestions can help you increase you water intake.
Keeping hydrated helps to maintain the moisture balance within our skin cells which promotes the elasticity, collagen, texture and all-round healthy complexion of skin. To keep skin looking fresher, plumper and dewy, it is also important to moisturise daily. There are many types of moisturisers, including topical Hyaluronic Acid creams, and that is a topic that we will return to in a future blog post.In addition to taking these preventative measures, skin hydration can be boosted by hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers which can be used to replenish volume and smooth lines or wrinkles caused by ageing and sun-damaged skin.
