Award Season is starting; Sexual Harassment won’t be swept under the red carpet.

Tonight at the Golden Globes, actresses are wearing black to show solidarity to the #MeToo movement, to survivors of sexual harassment, and as a subtle message to Hollywood, “We’re not gonna take it anymore,"to paraphrase Twisted Sister.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Actresses, including nominees and presenters, planning to wear black to protest gender inequality and to acknowledge the flood of sexual abuse allegations that have rocked Hollywood beginning with Harvey Weinstein. This follows on the heels of the announcement Wednesday that all the presenters at the Jan. 21 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be female.” Look for actresses like Lupita Nyong'o, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Salma Hayek, all survivors of Harvey Weinstein’s predatory behavior, wearing black.
While white was worn by suffragettes and suffragists, black will be worn by actresses who have become activists this award season.
Talk to any woman, and she has a #MeToo story. And many women still re-live the mistreatment every day. Sexual harassment in any field is now being faced head on, and consequences are being meted out.
