Catch up with London Fashion Week

Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Month recently kicked off in New York, where we saw some exciting new trends. London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017, followed, being held from 16th to 20th September. Here are five things LUXE Models took away from these fabulous catwalk shows.

Buy-to-wear

When telling you what to expect at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017, we hinted that you wouldn’t want to miss the Burberry show. During this event, the brand took a revolutionary step by revealing its first ever ‘buy-to-wear’ collection. All 83 ‘season-less’ outfits displayed on the runways in London were made available to consumers in Burberry stores straight after the lights went down!

Crocs go glam

For the longest time, comfortable croc shoes have been considered a major crime against fashion. But Christopher Kane single-handed turned crocs into the coolest shoes around at the Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Week! Sending models out in crocs in a multitude of bright shades and embossed with cascades of crystals, the brand took this rubbery footwear glam in London and the crowd loved it!

Star agency

Iconic model Kate Moss made a major announcement at London Fashion Week; she’s going to open her own modelling agency! Commenting, Kate was quoted by the BBC saying: “I don’t really want pretty people… I want to create stars. I want to focus more on managing people’s careers than just [running] a model agency… I want people that want to sing and dance and act.” If you’re looking to become a model and build a long, varied career in entertainment, this might be the agency for you!

Experimental sleeves

Designers often take something ridiculous and put it on the runway, turning it into the latest trend. This time it was all about getting experimental with long sleeves. Joseph used sleeves as neck and waist decoration, Simone Rocha dangled sleeves from the backs of coast and JW Anderson attached them to waists on draped dresses, showing that next season, nobody will wear sleeves on their arms!

80s beauty

In New York, we saw that 80s beauty trends are set to be hot next season and this carried over to London. Topshop’s Unique show was littered with 80s beauty looks, from bold smoky eyes, which were also seen at the Julien MacDonald and Paul Smith events, to perms. Other beauty trends that wowed audiences included ‘sweaty-skin’ make-up, textured braids, boyish haircuts and crystal nails.

See you in Milan

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 also saw a number of other exciting trends, from punk pastels to belted bomber jackets, hit the catwalks. It also confirmed that yellow will be next season’s hottest colour, as it was prominently displayed at the JW Anderson, Paul Smith and Emilia Wickstead shows. Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 has a lot to live up to – we’ll see you guys there!
