S/S ‘16: Trends that won’t live through.

This blog already has a post, explaining which trends of upcoming Fall/Winter season will be temporary ones, disappearing after its end. However, Spring/Summer 2016 hits closer tothe home, and even though it has been more than two months since the beginning, it’s not too late to review your wardrobe and evaluate future shopping decisions.

1. Americana

Vivid and complementary colours always catch an eye, an if they come along with something so eloquent as Anerican flag, these clothes are better left for the 4th of July party or for Halloween, ironically dressing up as a high-school cheerleader. It doesn’t, however, concern the shoes: all of the above mixed up with a strange heel and form of the toe can spoil the whole look and maybe even add up a couple of years to their owner. Americana shoes, just like any other shoes with highly cultural ornaments, are a no-wearer.

2. Denim

Despite blue mom-jeans and boyfriends of different colours being vastly popular today, original denim colour is rediculed at the same rates. Although skinnies, leggings, and even slim jeans are told to be abandoned in favour of the shapes with more width and general freedom for legs, classic straight jeans proposed in this season are unlikely to be highly accepted.

Straight dark blue jeans were popularised by the working class in the 1950′s. Even when this connection weakened over the decades, the connotation of the working clothes resembled, so it’s no wonder black denim replaced the blue one at the first chance.

Over the years, straight blue jeans and classical denim tried to make their comeback. Even if they were greeted by a few people for a brief moment, it still didn’t succeed to solidify its positions enough not to be dragged down later, so there’s no chance of this not happening after this eason’s end.

3. Sheer clothing

As usual, transparent clothes appeared on the runway. And just as usual, they were greeted with “How can I even wear that?” among people, who wear something more covered to a party, for which such clothes are originally meant to. Indeed, sheer dresses appear in most of the haute couture collections every season, but they don’t usually reach mass-market and the middle class, with the exception of a couple semi-transparent sweatshirts, that usually cover only chest area.

Public reaction to sheer clothes can be clearly seen in the comments for Beyonce’s Formation music video, where she wears one of such dresses by Gucci. Even by considering that most people perceive fashion with taking runway semi-naked looks too seriously and trying to apply them to everyday life, negative reaction shows that transparent looks are to be worn exclusively on private parties at high level.

4. Animalistic prints

Yes, leopard prints are really fun to wear, but usually when you go to the club, take this hilarious photo with a lot of glitter at the party, posing in your printed faux fur coat, or just as something a passer by can disregard quickly looking at you, like the sunglasses frame. However, this Spring we are offered to cover in it in full, and really, who would like to feel like a python, or to be covered in spots, even as one of the most noble animals?
